Beyond the Marion
A game made in summer 2024 by Placebo Entertainment. Available on Steam for free!

What is it?
Beyond the Marion is a 3D First Person walking simulator and puzzle game. You will interact with your alien crewmates and repair your spaceship in order to escape a time loop. Explore space in a ship straight from the 70’s, and meet your companions - brought to life with a funky claymated style - as the ship's commanding officer.
This project was made during the summer by a team of 20 Bradley students. In addition to our summer jobs, we stuck to our schedule and successfully made a game that is currently available on Steam. Our team is working to polish our original game and make a demo version to showcase at this year's FUSE showcase for Bradley's Interactive Media deapartment.
What's my role?
I was the Asset team lead for Placebo Entertainment. This project used a combination of discipline and functional teams. Early in production, I created flowcharts and diagrams to help communicate design's ideas to programming which you can see in our developer's blog.
As we got further into production, our functional teams were split into the Engine team and the out-of-engine team, or the Asset team. I worked closely with the artists, UI/UX, writers, and designers on our team to communicate their timelines and needs to production and the engine team.
I also worked as a designer and a writer. I hosted writers' rooms, helped to organize the lore bible, and wrote a lot of the dialogue for the game. With each milestone we did a new pass on dialogue to make sure it gave the players the information they needed while giving each character their own personality.

What's Placebo Entertainment?

Placebo Entertainment is a company made up of Bradley students looking to learn and make a game outside of class. We set out to make a Steam worthy game over the summer before senior capstone. Being outside of class the therefore outside of a grade gave us an opportunity to try our hand at roles we had less experience in. It also let us show we have the self discipline and determination to finish a game without the structure of class.
